Northeastern Youth Sports Association
Code of Ethics
The NEYSA Soccer Program is intended to provide the youth of the Northeastern
Community with the opportunity to participate on an organized soccer team,
learn the game of soccer and develop their individual and team skills. Good sportsmanship will be stressed as
skills are taught during practices and games.
***Parents – please read and review this with your
family. Then, sign and return the card
to your coach as directed. Keep this

Expectations for fans (parents, family members,
friends), players, coaches, team parents and officials:
·
I will respect the
coaches for their position and roles as volunteers.
·
I will respect the
facilities used for practices, games and any NEYSA function, and be responsible
for those under my charge to do the same.
·
I will not use nor
encourage profane, foul or negative language from myself or those in my charge.
·
I will respect other
fans, players, coaches, team parents and officials.
·
I will abide by all
NEYSA rules and regulations, one of which is that the use of tobacco products
in playing areas is strictly forbidden.
·
I will also abide by all
rules of facilities that are not owned or operated by NEYSA.
·
I will not bring or use
alcohol or any illegal substance during any sporting event, practice or
function. In addition, I will not
attend any function under the influence of the same.
·
I will avoid using
physical or verbal abuse or inappropriate body language against any player,
coach, team parent, fan or official at any time.
·
In the case of a
dispute, I will follow the grievance procedure outlined here in a civil manner
and will not use games, practices or functions as an arena to air a
grievance. This should be done through
the NEYSA chain of command and/or at a monthly NEYSA meeting.
·
NEYSA General Meetings
are held the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Mt. Wolf Fire Hall at
7pm. All coaches are expected to attend
and all members are invited to attend.
Grievance
Procedure
In the case of a dispute concerning an issue involving a coach, player, team parent or official, the following steps are to be taken in an effort to resolve the dispute. Please proceed promptly to come to a timely resolution while the issue is current. Please keep our mission in mind as you work toward a mutual understanding.
Step 1 Discuss
the issue directly with the head coach in a civil and confidential manner,
within three days of the occurrence.
Step 2 Discuss the
issue with the General Manager to inform him of all the facts concerning the
dispute. Allow the General Manager
sufficient time to gather additional information in order to come to a
reasonable conclusion.
Step 3 Discuss the issue with the
President of NEYSA in a similar
manner.
Step 4 Bring the matter to the NEYSA Board of Directions at the next regularly scheduled meeting (2nd Sunday of the month).
Discipline
In
the case when a player, coach or fan (parent, family member, friend) must be
reprimanded for inappropriate behavior, the following guidelines have been
established by NEYSA to promote just and fair resolution.
·
Verbal and/or written
warning from a coach, official or member of the NEYSA Board of Directors.
·
Suspension from one or
more games, practices or functions.
· Expulsion from the sport and/or all NEYSA functions.
This is a general guideline and is subject to change. The Board of Directors reserves the right to invoke any or all of these actions when deemed necessary, depending on the severity of the incident.
**NEYSA by-laws supercede this code at all times.
